I tried…

A little over a year ago, I started being very active on Instagram. Between now and then I have posted a little under 1000 posts. It became a way over time to document my day to day, while also letting the world what I was up to. During this journey, I also started to become interested in TikTok. Primarily, the ability to use pre-existing sounds gave me a way to express myself, without having to come up with the emotion, or feeling myself. Both were tedious but ultimately rewarding and fun.

Don’t even get me started with Snapchat, never even used that.

TikTok — The Issue over Time

Over time, the more I spent on these platforms, the more people I started being exposed to. The platforms started offering me more in ways of the people I started meeting, which meant I spent more time on these platforms. However, TikTok does not allow one to choose what I see and do not. True, you can guide the platform, but what I saw was simply too much. Within the confines of an Orthodox Jew, I simply do not see how there is an allowance to do so. I held onto the platform as much as possible to find a way. However, with TikTok, it is physically impossible, even as a business account, to not see. quite frankly, lewd videos. I would encourage my fellow Orthodox Jews to no longer use the platform, as I do not see any way in which it is allowed.
