Open-Source AI is Mis-leading
Here is why
The idea that you can open-source AI is very misleading.
True, you can get the weights for a pre-trained model, to run your own AI locally, but you won’t get the mechanism for which the AI was trained.
This mechanism includes the architecture of the model, the data used for training, hyperparameters, and the training algorithm.
This will always make it so the one that open-sourced the weights/model has the advantage.
Until the totality of the architecture of the model, data for training, hyperparameters, and training algorithms are open-sourced, we do not have open-sourced AI within the ecosystem.
For this reason, if you are someone using an open-source AI model, I’d err on the side of caution. Consider it as a short-term arrangement.
