10 Albums I love To…

…Listen To While Coding

Some albums are more specific to my own human experience that I listen to. I chose those that I believe can be universally beloved by all.

1— Tron: Legacy Reconfigured by Daft Punk

As opposed to much of the electronic music out there, it tends to keep with one style of music. In addition, can be hyper energized due to it’s demographic. Being that this was music made for a movie and then for each track, a new artist re-configured it remains unique in time and space.

2 — Love’s Crushing Diamond by Mutual Benefit

Brings me back to a simpler time. When I’m looking to coast whatever I work on, I listen to this and it brings me peace and calm

3 — Under Ancient Skies: MMXX Companion Album by National Air and Space Museum

We are in the early stages as a human species. I always get the feeling that there is so much unexplored and especially while coding it feels limiting. This album transports me to the mystery of the universe and I love it.

4 — Hurry Up, We’re Dreaming by M83

This album is a classic, and I wouldn’t be doing M83 justice if I didn’t include it. It’s ethereal at times, others transports to moments in my personal life, or moments in what I would image is someone else’s life. It keeps my mind busy while writing monotonous code and I listen to it frequently. Let’s say every 1–2 months.

5 — Migration by Bonobo

The best way I can describe it is as nomadic music or tribal music. I can sort of envision myself being in some North American tribe in the 1700s listening to this album. It is peaceful.

Migration by Bonobo

6 — Night Visions by Imagine Dragons

For a pop/rock album Imagine Dragons keeps a relatively low level of energy, the sort of energy I look to when coding. One of the rate heavy lyric albums making it’s way into this list.

Night Visions by Imagine Dragos

7 — Bon Iver by Bon Iver

Another classic. We all have moments in time we go and walk to some body of water to think through life and what we will focus on next. This album follow the theme of many of these other albums. Low tempo, low energy, peaceful and something that can be played in the background.

8 — Some Kind Of Peace by Olafur Arnalds

Iceland produces some great musical artists and Olafur Arnalds is one of my favorites. Music to listen to while the fire is crackling in the living room, bills are paid, the family is happy. The album does a good job of describing how the music makes me feel. “Some Kind of Peace”

9 — Elysian by tsterwat and Machinefrum

Elysian opening is one of my favorites and I think it’s a travesty only about 100,000 listens. Another album to find peace

Bonus x 10 — Senior by Royksopp

Another album that just brings me to the land of peace.

I hope these albums help you on your journey of success, happiness, well-being and making the world a better place. Have an album you really like? Drop it in the comments.
